Can I wear it open and closed, or is it meant to hang open?
Both work. Buttoned up it reads like a sweater with a textured front; left open, the contrast placket frames whatever you're wearing underneath.
Will it stretch out at the elbows over a season?
The knit is dense rather than loose, so it holds its shape better than a thin sweater. Lay it flat to dry instead of hanging it and it stays put.
Is it warm enough on its own, or do I need a coat over it?
On a cool fall or spring day it's plenty on its own. In deep winter it layers neatly under a coat because the shoulders are dropped, not padded.
Does the contrast color on the placket match the photos?
Yes — the contrast edging is knitted in, not printed or sewn on top, so the color stays as shown after washing.
